Liz's journey
Raising money and awareness for Leeds Cancer Centre Charity because No one deserves to live the nightmare
Story
On 1st December 2016, Liz was diagnosed with stage IV cervical cancer with liver and lymph node metastasis, which is incurable. She had palliative radiotherapy in December and started the first round of chemotherapy on the 21st December. Following several reactions to one of the drugs, she could no. longer have this, but continued to have 6 sessions of the one which worked in the best way shrinking all areas of the cancer.
However, In may 2017 she suffered two seizures, Being told this had since spread to her brain was heartbreaking. She was given gamma knife treatment immediately and on the 21st June she started a new course of chemotherapy.
She threw herself into raising awareness of cervical cancer and raising as much money as she could to have something to focus on, keep her mind active and obviously to hopefully prevent someone from going through the same hell as her in the future.
She raised money for Yorkshire Cancer Centre Appeal, (now Leeds Cares) which is supported at St James hospital, Bexley Wing where she was treated. Here all the staff were amazing on her heartbreaking journey.
After diagnosis she did interviews for BBC Look North as well as various local radio stations. Her main focus was to host a fundraising event on 4th February (World Cancer Day).
She did this, with great success, with help from family, friends, local and national companies as well as strangers. She raised a spectacular amount but her aim was to keep on going. Not only is this a great cause, the YCC offered her huge support along this journey, as well as supporting her family and close friends. The focus she had on these fundraising events also kept her spirits high and gave her a focus. on life beyond cancer.

She was inspired to repeat similar events to continue to raise money and awareness for such a great charity whilst still able to do so.
Her next event took place on Saturday 2nd September 2017, at the Crooked Billet in Saxton. This became an enormous tribute to an incredible young lady as she passed away on 27th July 2017. Her wish was that this would become an annual event, which family and friends have so far honoured.

Along this journey she sacrificed many things she never thought she would be without at her age, and any help and support to raise money for the charity that supported her would be great. Ultimately awareness of such a horrible disease was her main aim.
Any donation however large or small would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks to everyone for their continued support.
